While a RHINO fail does not equate to an image being legally non-compliant, there are legal compliance rules that must be adhered to.
At present, these are in draft format only and are expected to come into effect as of August 1, 2026.
Once ratified, Secondary PDP Gallery images must pass at AAA and must pass contrast to be legally compliant in line with the European Accessibility Act of 2025. Primary images are allowed to fail as long as the online shopper can read the product title which provides the same level of information; brand-format-variant-size-count. Therefore a pass at AAA on RHINO will be legally complaint.
